The music on this album is instrumental arrangements of songs and melodies I sang to my son to get him to relax, and to go to sleep.

Arranging songs I would sing over and over to get a child to calm down and sleep was an interesting process. Here are some details about the tunes…

1) “You're a Party" is a mix of old school hip hop and dub with 808 drum sounds, percussion, bass, trumpet, trombone, and sarod in the mix.

2) “You're Real Cool" is a horn led dub piece with a hint of bhangra and afro-beat. 808 drums, bass, electric guitar, lots of percussion, trumpet, trombone, sarod, mandolin, and organ are in the mix.

3) “Love Your Sweet Style" was one of my most effective lullabies, and strangely enough I always sang it very fast. So a bit of fast afro-latin flavored break beat—with a touch of drum and bass style— seemed a completely appropriate setting for the melody. I would actually beat box drum parts to him as I sang it to him. Trumpet, trombone, mandolin, bass, guitars, sarod and accordion are in the mix.

4) “Irish Lullaby" is so named because of the jig-like rhythm it's set in, and the featured role of the Shaw Irish whistle flute in it. I decided to keep this one acoustic.

5) “Lullaby Party" was one of the first lullabies I made for my son. I released it as a single earlier. It's acoustic and repeats the melody much in the way I would sing it to my son. As it repeats the instruments that are playing it change, and likewise its harmonization.
